Coldplay Concert Ticket Resale: A Bitter Pill for Fans

Many fans were left scrambling at the end when the last show of Coldplay in the city of Mumbai could have been enjoyed at face value. However, before many knew it, the demand for the shows had shot so high that they sold out in a jiffy and the resell market skyrocketed.

The Frenzy in the Secondary Market

There were overnight rushes on platforms like Viagogo and StubHub, into which the tickets in good supply were to be piled. The catch is that many of these tickets were sold at several times their face value, and the scalping of tickets became a concern for fans who could not manage the cost.

BookMyShow, the official ticketing portal for these concerts, has already issued alert warnings of ticket scalping and encouraged fans to be alert about unauthorized sellers. The company has also taken measures to prevent such large-scale ticket buyers, the notorious scalpers.

Fans took to the social media platforms and voiced their dissatisfaction with some stories of failed tickets. Many fans were frustrated with the management team in the sense that there were no measures in place to curb the countermeasures of the scalpers in such a way that tickets reach the final consumers fairly.

In short, the ticket scalping problem is quite complex, and there is no easy solution. The very fact that it is illegal in India has not brought an end to the practice. Fans would have to wait for their favorite popsters on the radio or streaming platforms if they cannot afford the prices of resales.

Care needs to be taken while buying resale tickets because of scams, and this makes all the difference if done through resellers authorized by the event. Still, even when you buy resale tickets, verify their authenticity before making any payment.
