The rodeo world is in shock at the death of 22 year old Peter DeLuna, a young San Antonio bull rider, who died after a horrific accident while competing in a rodeo competition in Bandera. The accident happened on the night of May 31, 2024, at the Riding on Faith Summer Rodeo Series competition at Mansfield Park Rodeo.
The Fateful Event
Witnesses reported that DeLuna was knocked off the bull during the ride and later kicked over by the animal. Unaware of the imminent peril, he escaped from the arena on foot before eventually collapsing. Paramedics working nearby immediately performed CPR and brought him to an airport landing site close by to obtain additional medical assistance. DeLuna sadly passed away from the injuries on scene.
Vanessa DeLuna, Peter’s mother, was deeply saddened by the unexpected loss of her son. In a moving Facebook message, she posted, “My heart is shattered into a billion pieces. My beautiful baby boy Peter DeLuna was taken from me last night. I just want to wake up from this nightmare.”

The Riding on Faith Rodeo organization has offered their sympathy, saying, “It is with a sad heart that we report that the Bullrider Peter died of his injury last night. We are saddened today and request your thoughts and prayers to be sent to his family and friends.”
